Senza Misura

Senza Misura's musicscore uses a traditional musical notation method to enable professional performers to play the piece (with it's acoustical problems due to large distances) as if it was written for a traditional chambermusic ensemble.

The music was performed by the ''de ereprijs" (orchestra for new music). 14 musicians (and a conductor) play the materials of which the Atrium is constructed. Metal, wood, concrete, carpet, bricks, glass etc.. They play their "instruments" with drumsticks, mallets, chords, paper and other objects to elicit new sounds.

All of the sounds (over 600 of them) were explored and collected during quiet periods in a few months and put together in a music-score in about a week's time.

Senza Misura is an exploration of a building's sound qualities; an exploration of the interaction of architecture and sound by investigating the acoustic possibilities of space and the specific materials used.
